Harm Reduction

Harm Reduction aims to reduce harms associated with drug use towards the individual, families, the community and society.  It does not require the individual to abstain from drug use nor does it view abstinence as a main goal for the individual.  Harm Reduction encourages safer drug use between individuals to prevent the spread of diseases, injuries and death and to create a safer community.

Harm Reduction targets drug users and individuals with addiction issues and provides them with the necessary services they may need.  The Harm Reduction program more specifically provides these services through Street Outreach and through the distribution of stem kits, sharp kits and safe sex kits to individuals.  These kits reduce the harms of drug use by providing clean, safe and sterilized needles to individuals who use drugs.
